Veronica
(who used to run our small shop in the Heritage Market down the road) with
a Giant Malachite Pyramid. These are all hand made from small pieces
of malachite. Because they are hollow they are relatively light, or
by judging the photo you would think that she would not be someone to pick
a fight with.

 Our
old show room on the Protea farm in the cape. We have come across
some very strange pieces over the years - from "Dragonstone"
eggs to Elephant bird Eggs and Dinosaur skeletons. Looking for
something in particular? Contact us and we will see if we have it or
can find it for you - info@amazonite.com

This
was a 150 kg Rose Quartz ball that we had made in Madagascar a while back.
Nice deep pink Rose Quartz and an excellent polish. It took four people to
carry and pack this baby. It sold instantly; several days before it
arrived back here.

An
interesting sign that we found amusing. Some might not, but you have to
appreciate the confusion and contrast of advertising beer over the bible
shop! Photo, courtesy of Mike Wilson. Trust Mike to capture the picture

Ajoite
is a very rare and sought after mineral these days and it is hard to even
get a single crystal with this blue Copper Aluminum silica inclusion.
We had about a third of the worlds supply ten years ago and this was the
best of the biggest clusters that we ever saw or have seen since. A grand
and noble 72kg piece with bright turquoise blue rosettes and copper
spindles all over the place. Ajoite and Papagoite have to be my personal
favourites in the mineral Kingdom. There are many crystal
healers that would change their gentle ways to get their hands on this
beauty! They are almost impossible to get hold of. this piece came from
Harper shaft about 4000 feet down , Messina Copper mine (closed for
several years now), Northern Transvaal, South Africa (now called Musina,
Limpopo province)

This
was a nice large crystal weighing just under a ton we came across near Ansirabé
. We called it Ratsiraka, after the late dictator Prime Minister of
Madagascar. Couple of broken backs and some very sore muscles later, we
managed to get it packed up safely and undamaged

 Some
photos of a small fishing village near Diego in Northern Madagascar. These
old fashioned Pirogues/dug out canoes with side rudders are still
used daily. Beautiful spot and plenty of fish for sale. (We ate a
huge plate of crab and prawns for aboutt 12000fmg each
($2.00/One pound twenty!)

Glad
I didn't wake with this in the morning! Definitely an eye to eye view with
something you don't really need to be this close too! A hippo in Eastern
Transvaal (Mpumalanga) South Africa.

This
is Saco, Malagasy guy, holding a fossilised sea urchin that he found
in Toliari, Southern Madagascar. Quite an interesting piece. We
often get our hands on strange and unusual fossils.

A
snap of a wee dragon that was crawling around in the trees outside of the
yard in Madagascar. I have seen one or two Chameleons maybe slightly
larger than this on numerous trips to Madagascar, but not much. Quite a
beauty!

A recent trip taken to Oribi Gorge, Kwa Zulu Natal. A magnificent spot
indeed. We took a trek to the edge and " walked the
plank"; a vertical drop of of a thousand feet down or so!
Stupid, yes, but, hell, what a view. We walked a loooong way around this
place....absolutely stunning scenery and boy, were we tired when we got
back to the pub (Photo from where we were sitting at the top overlooking
a parallel valley to the main gorge.) This was a well deserved beer!
