Good day to you. My name is Nick May and am
the person responsible for the rocks you are about to be enjoying
and looking through for the next while, possibly the next hour or
two, probably on a fairly regular basis.
Amazonite.com has an assortment of some of
the finest and interesting pieces that you are likely to find
anywhere. The crystals, minerals gemstones and fossils found here are
the cream selection from a dozen years of a rock wholesale
business that has hundreds of thousands of pieces coming
through. Many specimens are from passionately collecting for 20
years as well as prospecting trips and some swapping and a quite bit
of master lapidary work. These are the best, the most
interesting, the particularly unusual, sometimes the largest, the
most colourful, from old locations, rarities and just some of
finest pieces from what's out there in the Southern African
region. The selection has been made not on price criteria, but as
you will find, each piece has what every person who loves rocks
wants from their stones...presence, aesthetics and perfect
natural balance along with the feeling that they are special, mostly
classic pieces. There are stones that cover every category within
geological, gemological, crystallography, mineralogical,
paleontological and natural interests. Natural magic from Mother
Earth at its best.
I have been appreciating and collecting natural things since a very
early age. I grew up on farms around Devon and Somerset in
South West England (collecting ammonites and English fossils from 6
years old) and came to South Africa many years ago and have been lucky
enough to continue my love of nature as my business pursuit as well as
my main interest. Southern Africa, is, without doubt, the richest area
for these interests in the world. Over the years, I have
prospected far and wide all ,over Southern to central Africa and Madagascar, have
had several very successful rock shops in some very beautiful areas,
have run an extremely busy gemstone and mineral wholesale business for
many years, exported extensively, done a several
international gem shows and rock exhibitions and have been
collecting and keeping some of the finest pieces throughout all
adventures and ventures. I have my own fairly extensive
personal collection of over 2000 stones that covers just about every
field from interesting and top quality mineral specimens of all shapes
and sizes, some of the most unusual and interesting polished pieces and
rarities, stone age tools, dinosaur bones, unique carvings, Elephant
bird eggs, unusual spheres, rare faceted stones, crystals of all shapes,
sizes with inclusions, enhydro's, floaters, phantoms, weird
formations...you name it!. At some stage soon, this will form the basis
for a country nature museum that is in the process of being created so
that it can be shared by thousands of others and give others the
same feeling of joy and love of nature that I have had from collecting
them.
Robert is the guy who has designed the
Amazonite.com website (computer fiddler/webmaster) and he maybe the
person responsible for what you are about to receive! Between
Robert and myself, we have spent a lot of time and tried to set up
Amazonite.com website up as the "perfect" site for
anybody who loves rocks and natural beauty. If you are looking for
something, and if it can be found in this part of the world, then
the chances are that we have it. Not only do we probably have it, but we
have something in its type or category that far surpasses your
expectation of the average specimen. Anybody who knows anything about
rocks will see immediately that these are not just "run of the
mill" pieces, but all have something special about them.
You should find every specimen
to probably be above your expectations and below what you expected to pay
for it when you physically have it in your hand and, chances are, that
there will be more aspects to it than what the photographs could have
shown you. We will be more disappointed than you if you are not 150%
happy with it. The specimens here are not necessarily cheap, but they
are for what you are getting. There is everything from $5 perfect
Kyanite crystals up to $50 000 perfect 4 ton quartz crystals
coming and going on this site, but mostly reasonably priced top in-betweeners.
Our customers range from Geologists, mineral collectors, Esoterical
users and metaphysical healers , jewelers, Fossil fossickers, gem cutters,
Interior designers, Hippies, Architects, Paleontologist,
naturalists and just plain old rock fanatics of mixed interests. There
is rarely a type of person who doesn't appreciate rocks in some shape
or form. If you don't, you are definitely in the wrong place!
We have fun with this site and our
customers and we are fairly well balanced, down-to-earth fanatics!
Any questions will be answered. All natural forms are
appreciated, so if you would like to send through any photo's of your
collections, perfect specimens, crystals, prospecting sites, mines, beautiful
scenery, canyons, mountains, trips that you have been
on, geological formations, animals, (even of perfect specimens in
bikini's if you have to), you will know, from our natural sense of
aesthetics and balance that we will get the full appreciation of them.
I am busy with, and will be doing a book in the next couple of years
and would appreciate any photo's, information and exciting rock,
mineral, crystal, nature, meteorite, fossil, lapidary, geological,
gemstone, mining etc etc etc news that you may have in your
possession. We are here most of the time, but if you don't get any
e-mail back within a couple of days, don't worry, it probably means I
am out in the bush or running around for rocks and will answer just as
soon as I am back.
The rocks on Amazonite.com are all selected and are pieces that I
would happily keep for myself, in fact, many of them are
doubles/triples that are from my own collection. Most have
been picked as the best from large batches, complete pockets, old
collections, miners favorite pieces and top pieces from
carvers, stone manufacturers and lapidary experts.
We load up a fairly substantial quantity of exciting and beautiful
pieces regularly. If what you are looking for is not here, let us know
and we will see what we can dig up for you.
Happy hunting, happy viewing and hope to
hear from you soon. Have fun.
